A Pig's Tale: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a ceremonial pardon event this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future away from worry.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the character of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
