The under-pressure manager insisted he was not afraid of dismissal, claiming, “The team is really close to things turning around,” in the wake of sliding worryingly close to being fired with a heavy loss to Rangers.

A Second-Half Capitulation Results in Old Firm Defeat

The home side had led Rangers at half-time but a collapse after the break allowed the Gers to draw level on points with the reigning league title holders. The French coach, who was hired in December, has now overseen six losses in his first eight fixtures.

“The board and I are united at the club,” insisted the manager.

Asked directly about his own future, he said: “That’s not my focus. My focus is on working out methods to help my team to improve on the fine details.

Nancy’s Persistent Belief

Nancy remains focused on the fact the side can perform strongly for a half at a time. In fact, were it not for missed chances they would have been more than 1-0 up. “I saw enough except the fact that we missed a second goal,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but it's important to stay balanced.

“The level we had at stages was of top quality. That is a fact. I could not say that if it was different. Therefore, when it comes to wins, I said this is the same story. Which is why I said that we are really close to things turning around. Currently: small things.”

“We produced many, many good things that we did, as was the case today. However it’s about performing for 90 minutes. My narrative would not be if I didn't believe it. That’s why I am a big believer we will manage to fix this.”

The Rangers Boss Response

Danny Röhl was cautious about a title charge despite what appeared to be a statement victory. “We take it game by game, then we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The belief in the team is outstanding.”
